Polder maps: improving OMIT maps by excluding bulk solvent
The crystallographic maps that are routinely used during the structure-solution workflow are almost always model-biased because model information is used for their calculation. As these maps are also used to validate the atomic models that result from model building and refinement, this constitutes an immediate problem: anything added to the model will manifest itself in the map and thus hinder...
متن کاملImproving Depth Maps by Nonlinear Diffusion
Dense depth maps, typically produced by stereo algorithms, are essential for various computer vision applications. For general configurations in which the cameras are not necessarily parallel or close together, it often proves difficult to obtain reasonable results for complex scenes, in particular in occluded or textureless regions. To improve the depth map in such regions, we propose a post-p...
متن کاملIterative-build OMIT maps: map improvement by iterative model building and refinement without model bias
A procedure for carrying out iterative model building, density modification and refinement is presented in which the density in an OMIT region is essentially unbiased by an atomic model. Density from a set of overlapping OMIT regions can be combined to create a composite 'iterative-build' OMIT map that is everywhere unbiased by an atomic model but also everywhere benefiting from the model-based...
متن کاملStability of F-biharmonic maps
This paper studies some properties of F-biharmonic maps between Riemannian manifolds. By considering the first variation formula of the F-bienergy functional, F-biharmonicity of conformal maps are investigated. Moreover, the second variation formula for F-biharmonic maps is obtained. As an application, instability and nonexistence theorems for F-biharmonic maps are given.
متن کاملImproving 2D-3D Registration by Mutual Information using Gradient Maps
In this paper we propose an extension for the algorithms of image-to-geometry registration by Mutual Information(MI) to improve the performance and the quality of the alignment. Proposed for the registration of multi modal medical images, in the last years MI has been adapted to align a 3D model to a given image by using different renderings of the model and a gray-scale version of the input im...
